WHY NOT SEE THE NORTHERN MOST TIP OF GIPPSLAND?

COME TO ABERFELDY

Be transported back through time to the turn of the century and listen to the wonderful reproducing pianos, the organ, the gramophone and other vintage musical instruments at Graham and Lynda Code’s. Surely a remarkable collection accessible to the public only by appointment.
An inspection and tour of the Code’s Music Museum takes about an hour at charge of $ 5 per head with tea, coffee and scones included ( small groups preferred ).

Walking tours through the area can be arranged at $10 per half day, per person. (children $5 ).

No-one knows the area like the Code’s, who can answer all your questions of days gone by. Graham has had a lifetime love affair with Aberfeldy and the eastern Highlands.

One of the few links left with the past is the little Aberfeldy Cemetery. Perhaps the highest operating cemetery in Victoria, and one of the highest in Australia Nearby Toombon was a productive gold mining town which in its heyday was producing 8,000oz of gold per year.

ABERFELDY COUNTRY CABINS

The Code Cabins at "Code's Flat", Toombon.(near Aberfeldy)

Donnelly's Creek Road, Toombon, via Erica, 3825

The Aberfeldy-Toombon-Donnelly’s Creek area is an old gold mining area which had its hey day in the early 1860’s trough to 1910, or thereabouts.  If you have an interest in Gippsland’s rich history, this area is worth investigation.

Our cabins are set in natural bushland that will tempt you with a rustic lifestyle and scenic beauty that Victorian early pioneers and gold miners appreciated.  We are an approximate three hours drive from Melbourne, set in mountains of Gippsland, 40 minutes drive north of Thomson Dam, not far from the township of Aberfeldy.

At Toombon, you stay in comfortable, but basic cabins.  There are plenty of four wheel driving and trail bike tracks in the area, as well as fishing, bushwalking, swimming or just relaxing.  In the winter months, there is sometimes snow an easy drive away, where you can sight-see or toboggan.
